Colorado Elk Hunting

Why hunt with us?

Because our elk hunting takes place in some of the most prolific elk country in Colorado. We witness great numbers of elk during the fall hunts and it is not abnormal to see several hundred elk during your stay with us. Our private ranches boast some of the best elk habitat in Northwest Colorado, consisting of sage, service berry, scrub oak, aspen thickets, cedar, pinion, and dark timber in elevations from 7000 to 9500 feet.

The incredible elk population here is unmatched, therefore the opportunity to harvest a legal bull is high. The CP&W has a 4 point antler restriction (4 points or better on one side) for legal bulls. This has been in effect since 1985 and has dramatically enhanced our overall bull population. We are harvesting the typical bull elk from 4 to 6 points, averaging 2.5 to 4 years old. We are not considered a trophy area but because of the huge numbers of elk on our ranches, the chances of harvesting a 3-7 year old bull are high. We brag of almost a 90% shot opportunity on bulls. Our management practices in hunting allows the smaller bulls to live longer, and because of good grazing methods the bulls achieve optimal antler growth.
